Whenever one compiles a list of the “top” anything unbounded controversy is almost certain to ensue. However, with this list, the last thing I’m looking to do is to inspire debate. I realize that there may be many “house purists” who will disapprove of my exclusion of many of the classics from the early days of house music. However, this is a list of favorites from the perspective of a jazz musician-turned-house head, which, as I will be the first to tell you, is an unusual perspective at this stage in music history.
